The Kenya National Innovation Agency (KeNIA) is supporting 11 universities onborded into the ELTP program across Kenya in Cohort 3 Institutional Commercialization Support (IS) Program). The aim is to strengthen their innovation and commercialisation capacity through the development of the Institutional Entrepreneurial Maturity Framework (EIMF). The focus for this first visit was on facilitating institutional self-assessment to evaluate readiness across commercialisation tenets like leadership and governance, infrastructure, human capital, institutional policies, and partnerships and linkages. Through these sessions, KeNIA provides expert guidance to help institutions interpret their assessment results and use the insights with the guide of experts to build a clear roadmap for enhancing entrepreneurial maturity and fostering an innovation-driven higher education ecosystem in Kenya. The universities visited include; Murang’a University of Technology, Karatina University, Kisii University, Kabarak University, University of Eldoret, United States International University (USIU) - Africa, Cooperative University of Kenya, Zetech University, Pwani University, Strathmore University and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
